Vote for my friend

This is my friend Melissa.

We’ve been friends since we were wee ones. Okay, we were 9, but whatever. Want proof? Here you go…

Melissa is the luckiest person I know. Like, really. If anyone can win a contest, it’s her. She probably wins because she’s REALLY, REALLY good at asking people to vote for her. In fact, she just asked if I would post this on my blog. Guess what? That’s right, I am.

Melissa is entered into a contest through Gotta Love Chevy OK to win an Ipad and a $500 gift card. She really, really wants to win this. I want her to win this, too. Maybe she’ll take me shopping. Hint, hint!

To vote for her:

  1. Go to the Gotta Love Chevy OK page and click on “Chevy Video Contests” on the left (under the profile pic. (I think you may need to click “like.”)
  2. Click Vote Now.
  3. Choose Melissa’s video, “Why I love Chevy Equinox.”
  4. That’s it! You can vote once a day through June 25.
Why is it that I never win anything? Maybe I need her to teach me her secret.

Giveaway winner

The winner of the giveaway is….

juliaa!

I’ll be sending her an email to let her know she was the winner. I didn’t go with any of the submissions as the name for my Etsy store, but I loved hearing them. Thanks for entering!

Iphone Dump

Here’s a few of the things to be found on my Iphone lately:

At my sister-in-law's high school graduation

Found this book at the thrift store. I thought it was super cute. I won't be doing a full review though.

Isis likes to sew, perhaps a bit too much. This is right before her paw came flying through the hole. I guess I wasn't using the correct seam allowance. Geez.

Can I be her?

I walked in the other night and found them like this. So cute!

I often walk into the bathroom in the mornings and find this. Weird cat.

Trying to decide if I like the hat. No mirror? Take a self portrait!

Found this at the antique store the other day. LOVE! Sadly, it didn't come home with me. :(

My letter to an E-Reader

Dearest Nook,

I didn’t want to want you. I was hesitant to pick you up. I wanted to stay faithful to traditional books, but then I did it. Standing there in Best Buy, I made the fatal mistake of rubbing my fingers across your shiny white sides. I lifted you ever so gently. From that moment, I lost all hope of turning back.

I wanted you. I NEEDED you.*

I endlessly researched you. I sewed covers for other people’s Nooks. I came back to visit you again and again.

Alas, it was not to be.

My husband taunted me with you. He reminded me that if I was to get you, there would always be something bigger and better to get and you would fall by the wayside.**

“No!,” I pleaded. “I swear, I like the first generation and I’ll stay true to it.” (Even though your cousin, the Nook Color, does look pretty enticing.)

“But we’re going to Ireland soon. We’ve got a lot of big expenses coming up. Do you think it’s wise?”

There he goes with the sane justifications. I don’t want to be justified. I want a Nook. (Said in my best Veruca voice)

I walked away. I pouted. I schemed. I came up with this***:

Perhaps, it shall be after all. It just may be a little longer until we can be together. Ha!

Until we meet again,

Your future owner and friend, Angel

*I hope you realize that this is all in fun. I’m not that crazy. Yet.
** Our anniversary is on Sunday. I hope he was toying with me and a pretty, shiny Nook shows up in my hands. I doubt it. I love him, but he’s a tightwad. (Love you, Rusty!)
***This is what happens when you have pretty sharpies and too much time on your hands. It’s a good thing I didn’t have any stickers lying around.

Exciting summer

If you’ve been anywhere near me in the last 2 weeks, you probably are tired of hearing me rambling on about my summer plans. Sorry for that.

My summer started out with pretty much no plans other than 2 grad classes and a revamp of my curriculum, since I’m moving up to 5th grade next year. It quickly got very fun and interesting. One of my grad classes got cancelled (in July), because only 2 of us signed up. I guess I’ll be taking it next summer.

Now for the exciting things:

Three weeks from today, I’ll be leaving with two of my friends on a road trip to….

Chicago!

Then, the other exciting thing: 6 weeks from today, I’ll be sitting with Rusty on a plane to….

Ireland!

I’m beyond excited about what this summer holds. I’m sure you’ll be seeing plenty of pictures on here. Also, since it’s our first time traveling internationally, I’ve been doing some research. I’m not sure if any of it interests you, but I’d be happy to pass it along, if you’d like.

So, what are your summer plans?

Etsy, etsy, bo-Betsy…

…banana fanna fo-fetsy…

Okay, I’ll cut that out promptly before I annoy you all and lose a ton of followers (or the 20 that I actually have).

An announcement: I now have an Etsy shop in which to sell all of my handmade goodies. Currently, I have camera straps, laptop cases, and cases for E-readers.

Introducing….. Ginger Buffalo Designs!

I can do custom orders for camera straps, laptop cases, or E-reader cases. Just send me a message with your request and we can work something out.

And for those of you who see something you like, I’m offering a 10% discount on all existing merchandise. Just enter the code BLOG10 at checkout and the 10% discount will be applied to your order. (This isn’t valid on custom orders.)

What do you think so far? My friend Crystal’s husband is making me a banner and a button. I’ll be sure to reveal those as soon as he gets it done. Until then, I’ll leave you with this….

“Me, my mo-metsy, ETSY!”

Flip, flop. Flip, flop.

I’m generally a fan of flip flops no matter what, but I recently bought a pair that I HAD to share with you. It would just be cruel if I didn’t.

I give you….the Teva Olowahu:

These are by far the most comfortable flip flops my feet have ever worn. Ever. Period.

Like the sound of resting your aching dogs in a mound of cotton candy, wrapped in silk, floating on a cloud? Buy these. Seriously, you’ll probably even start seeing unicorns and farting rainbows, or something like that.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a paid advertisement. I just really dig the shoes. Teva has no clue who I am. I wish they did. Maybe I’d score some free kicks. Hint, hint.
