I’m ‘shopped…

I’ve been practicing my editing skills lately. Who better to try it out on than yourself? After all, I’m my hardest customer. Here’s one I worked on tonight. What do you think? I was obviously going for a more artistic look rather than an everyday look. Too much?

Look mom! I’m a professional!

I’ve been called a pro at a lot of things. Mainly, I’ve been called a PRO-crastinator. Hahaha, I kill me. Stick with me folks. It only gets better from here.

So, I assume if you’ve been around for any length of time, you know that I sort of like taking pictures. People tell me I’m sort of decent at it, too. I decided to put that to work and make money from it.

I’ve used Shutterfly for years for my own personal pictures, but I just signed up to be a member of their pro gallery. There are so many great things about it!

  • It’s just as easy to use as the rest of their site.
  • I get the option of selling the photos I want at the prices I want.
  • It’s well organized, friendly, and has great customer service.
  • My customers so far have loved the products they’ve received.
  • I can offer additional products to the print galleries, like photo books, graduation announcements, and even Christmas cards.
  • Shutterfly provides me with earnings reports each month so I can keep track of my sales.
  • Galleries are professional and password protected.

I could go on and on. If you are a photographer and are looking for a great website to use, I HIGHLY recommend them!

While you’re browsing around Shutterfly, why not swing by my site? Just click the flower to head that way…

Shane’s session

I did a session for a good friend of mine yesterday who needed some casual headshots. Here are a few peeks:

Wedding photography fun

Last weekend, my beautiful friend K asked me to take pictures for her wedding. It was my first, so as you can imagine, I was about as calm as a bomb squad member. I’m no where near done editing and sorting through the 900 photos I took, but I thought I’d share a few of the ones I’ve finished editing with you. Please leave comments and let me know what you think.

By the way, I’m totally NOT cut out to be a wedding photog. K and M were lovely, but it’s far TOO much pressure for me. I’ll stick with regular old photo shoots for now.

This is the venue, the Marland Mansion. Isn’t it beautiful?

Ok, that’s it for now. Be honest.

The one where I’m a famous photographer…

Okay, not really. But, I AM published. I have pictures to prove it. Oklahoma Today magazine used a photo I took of one of the authors and it’s published in this month’s issue. Here’s me with the mag:

Here’s the page with my photo:

Sorry for the sketchy photos. The hubs took them in a hurry. That’s why I belong behind the camera instead of in front of it!

Thank you to Oklahoma Today magazine for the chance to be published. I’d love to work with you more.

You be the judge…

Okay folks, time for some photo criticism. I want your honest and unbridled opinions. Specifically, which of the 2 photos (taken at the same time, same location) do you like better?

Just an FYI, these are just taken from slightly different angles. Minimal retouching was done (cropping, turning to b&w).

So, tell me and be honest. Which one do you like better? Why? OR, do you hate them both?

January Iphone dump

I don’t have any books for review, because I haven’t had time to read (true story!) and life hasn’t been super exciting lately, so I thought I’d steal the idea from Wan and do an Iphone dump of some recent pictures. Enjoy.

My little sister in her new western shirt. She’s a little more country than I am and far too pretty for her own good.

My dog very much resembles an alien at times. I’m fully convinced that one of these days, he’s going to ask me for a ride to his mother ship.

My new sparkly shoes that I won from DSW. Yes, they’re a rip-off of TOMS. Yes, I love my TOMS more. But, they were FREE and they’re SPARKLY. That’s good enough for me. (No, they’re not sitting on toilet paper. It’s the packing materials.)

The snow bank in front of the school where I work. The bad thing? Those hallways are actually open to the elements on the end. It makes walking to the office a bit nippy.

This guy deserves 2 pictures. I was studying at the bookstore the other night and he walked in. He could totally be a character in a novel, so I snapped these pictures (hello, creepy stalker!). After eavesdropping (I know!) on a conversation between he and his friend, I found out he’s also a musician. Mmm…

Well those are a few of the recent pictures. If you liked this post, maybe I’ll make it an ongoing feature. I’d like to see your phone picture dumps. Link me!

A beautiful sunset and Happy birthday, Dad!

I wanted to share 2 things with you today. First of all, it’s my Dad’s birthday. Happy birthday to you, Dad! I hope you get all you want. I know you have some stressful things coming up, so I hope that today is as relaxing as possible. Oh, and sorry that your present is going to be late. It’s awfully hard to convince the USPS to ship a pony, after all. :)

Dad and I at my wedding in 2004.

Second, I wanted to share this picture of the beautiful sunset that we had last night. I still haven’t mastered taking pictures of sunsets, but you get the general idea.

I hope you enjoy your Sunday and your long weekend off, if you get to stay home like I do. I know I’ll be using it to catch up on work, but I’ll be able to do it from the comfort of my couch if I choose.

B family photos

On Saturday, I walked across the street (literally) to my friend’s house to snap a few pictures of her and her husband. She didn’t want a full photo shoot, but just a few to frame or use for Christmas. Here are a couple that I liked:

I appease you with pictures

I’m sorry I’ve been such a crappy blogger lately. I’ve had a crazy-busy time lately. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Did a photo shoot on Saturday. I had a malfunction and deleted the pictures from my camera halfway through. We had to reshoot, so I only charged them half price. Not only did I rob my self of the paycheck, but I also lost one of my lenses. I have no idea how, but it’s now gone forever.
  • I was at my sister’s house showering (more on that in a minute) and backed into a girls car when I was leaving. Yeah, it was awesome. (insert sarcastic eye roll here) Thankfully my car isn’t damaged, and she didn’t want me to call insurance on her, so it won’t cost me.
  • My shower isn’t working and my landlords are being d-bags. If it doesn’t get fixed ASAP, I’ll be calling in the most expensive plumber I can find and billing the rental company.
  • Rusty and I are celebrating 10 years together today. Can you believe he’s put up with me this long? We’ve obviously had our ups and downs and our close calls, but we’ve managed to last. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 brings us.
  • So much more than I just can’t seem to think of right now!

Here are a few pictures from the shoot Saturday. Enjoy!
