Jinx by Meg Cabot

Jinx

by Meg Cabot

My rating: B-

Jean Honeychurch has spent her entire clumsy life as a preacher’s kid from the Midwest. After some unfortunate events, she is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in New York City. Already out of her element “Jinx” doesn’t fare too well with her cousin Tory’s friends, or “coven” as she calls them. As things unfold, Jinx realizes that there might be more to her nickname than just her clumsiness. Is it possible that she’s a witch, just like her cousin Tory says?

I’ve read quite a few of Meg Cabot’s books and I’ve loved every single one. How can you NOT love the Princess Diaries series? I listened to the audiobook of this on the way to Arizona a few weeks ago, and I have to say that I was less than impressed by this. It’s not Cabot’s strongest work, by far. However, it still is a fun read with a few fun characters. Unfortunately, the plot was WAY too predictable for me. If it was predictable for me, then it will kill most people, because I NEVER see things coming ahead of time. That said, if you are a fan of Cabot’s you might still give this a try. Jinx is an endearing character and you just might find out that you like her more than I did.

Oh, and you should totally follow Meg on Twitter. She’s great!
